Pueblo Project is an idea that the Lord put on our hearts when we first started deputation. The name was born this last Christmas 2006 when we came to Spain for a Survey Trip with Jeffrey Andrews and his family. As we left the big city Madrid and headed north to Santander, we found in our way many small towns. As we arrived in Santander we noticed the same thing. We then saw it as never before! There is such a need of missionaries in this country and so many cities of over 100,000 people without a gospel preaching church; what are the chances that a missionary will even think about starting a church in one of those small towns, unless God makes that clear. We ourselves are praying to be able to go to Santander to start a church, and it is a large city with almost 200,000 people. But what about all those small towns, 300 people, 2000 people, 8000 people. Those are precious souls that NEED to hear. With that thought a great burden fell upon our hearts to do what we can to also reach those towns. That is how the pueblo Project was born for us, and we are excited to see, now that we are in Spain, that many other churches here have seen that same need, and are also trying to reach those small towns.
Pueblo Project is small town evangelism and, for us, is an effort to dedicate one Saturday a month to a small town around us. We will go and pass out information to every house in that town, that they may hear that there is a Savior that already has paid for their sins.
We are passing out an envelope with a gospel tract and a letter. In that letter we briefly explain who we are and Whom we serve. We offer Bible studies at their homes, by e-mail or snail mail, if they prefer. We also offer free Bibles that they may see the truths that God has for them. As the need comes, we could start group Bible studies at that town or even a mission that could eventually form a church.
How can you help:
- You can pray
- That God will lead us first to those towns where there is already somebody searching for His truth.
- That God will open hearts as only He can, and that we may be filled with His Holy Spirit.
- That God would provide with leaders at those towns to be trained for His ministry.
- You can give
- With that ministry there comes a need for John and Romans (that we would like to add to those packages that are being passed out), tracts, Bibles and envelopes. There are ministries that will provide us with free material but the expense of shipping overseas is high. You can take up that need and help us reach those towns.
- You can get involved by coming
- Many hands make the work easy. You can organize a mission trip in your church and come and help us go to those towns and saturate them with His Word. Imagine being part of seeing an entire town showered with the seed of God’s Word!
