1 Cor.3:7: " So then, neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase".

As we told you in our last prayer letter, we had a 7 week series coving "Important Questions of Life". During those series we had 6 first time visitors and another 3 returning visitors. The series ended on December 23 with the subject "Who is Jesus?" and our Christmas Cantata. The children did a great job and on Sunday night we had 3 visitors, 1 on Sunday morning.

A couple of weeks ago, my wife and Danielle Contreras were able to go and visit a lady named Agda. A month or so earlier, Joseph and I had met her while on door-to-door visitation. The ladies were able to talk to her about the Lord for a long time and invited her to go to the weekly ladies meetings that we have in the church. She came and after that meeting, she bowed her head and prayed for salvation. They have been able to start discipleship with her, and she has been coming to the ladies meetings and Sunday night service. Her husband name is Ruben. He says he doesn't believe in God, so we ask you to pray that we may be able to talk to him and show him that there is a God and that He is his only hope. We would invite you to go to our web page and read her story in more detail. It is neat to see that there are people searching for God and how he uses us to answer prayers. Pray for her growth, that she may not get discouraged and that she may desire to live for Him.

If you can remember, a couple of months ago we told you about a lady name Luz that had gotten saved. We would ask you to pray for her. She has had a very difficult life, and although she desires much to learn about God, she is having a hard time letting go of much anger and bitterness that is in the way of her spiritual growth. Please pray for my wife as she encourages her, she needs much understanding from the Lord to help her.

On the 26th of January, we had a breakfast for the Gijon Mariners,

a team that plays "american football" here in Spain. Joseph Contreras, the missionary with whom we are working, has played with them the last 3 years as an outreach to these young guys. We have done different things for them in the past with about 30 coming to the last get together at the church. This time we didn't have as many, but we did have the most players we have had before. We had 17 players, all unsaved young men between the ages of 20 and 35. We also had another 5 or so family members of the players. What an opportunity! After the breakfast we showed a powerful dvd of Tony Dungy's (head coach of the indianapolis colts) testimony. He practically preaches a message and even gives an invitation. We had Miguel, a man from our church, translate so that they could hear it in Spanish. Here in Spain, baptists are many times still looked on as a cult; but all of these guys know who Mr. Dungy is and follow the NFL. Many were touched, and we ask you that you especially pray for Pablo a young man from the team. He talked to Joseph after the video and asked many questions. He told me he was very impressed with the testimony that he had heard.

We praise God He is allowing us to be a part of many lives here in Gijon and has given us some good contacts that have visited the church, others that visit often, and others that are allowing us to follow up with them. We ask you especially for Jose Ramon, which has come to the church at least on 3 occasions and is always full of questions. Also Gustavo and Cari--he came and visited the church and we have visited them in their home a few times. Also we ask you to pray for Jose Antonio, he made a profession of faith back in June, when the teens from our church came. We have had a hard time following up with him, but just last week were able to meet with him again. He mentioned he is willing to meet with us on a weekly basis. We desire Him to live for God and we ask you to help us pray for Him as we try to encourage him.

Lastly we would like to ask you to pray for the Contreras family as they are leaving for furlough the end of February and coming back the end of July. They need to raise some very much needed extra support. Also pray for us as we stay behind, may God give us wisdom to lead the work here.
