Prayer Requests

Please pray for the Contreras Famiy. They are a missionaries to Spain and have started a work in Gijon. Pray that the Lord will bring people to the church but most importantly bring people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ!!!
Also, keep them in prayers as they try to raise more support and report to their churches during their furlough time (Feb--July)

TWO SOULS SAVED!!!

We can´t praise God enough for what HE is doing in Centro Biblico Bautista in the last months.  God has sent many visitors our way including the three found in the photo below from the most recent ladies meeting.

Maria Elena, Susana, Carmen, and Pilar

Last Sunday, 22 June, Maria Elena came to the church for the first time (she had just arrived from Mexico 15 days earlier).  She told us that she was catholic, but that she was searching for God and that she wanted to understand the Bible.  She spent the whole day with us, clearly soaking up everything that we shared with her.  She came back on Friday for the ladies meeting and again Pilar had another chance to share the plan of salvation with her-Praise God she gloriously accepted Christ as her Savior!!!  Pray for her as she grows in the Lord; she has already made plans to pass out tracts with us this week.

Susana comes from a Christian family in Argentina, but has lived in Gijón for quite some time.  Since she began coming a few months ago, we can always count on seeing her on Sunday mornings and for the ladies meetings (she has a degenerative leg disease that keeps her down a lot).  She has been a great blessing and encouragement to the church.

Carmen came for the first time on 15 June and has been faithful to the Sunday and Wednesday services as well as to the ladies meetings.  She lives in London and spends 3 weeks of vacation in Gijón every summer.  The first time that she came, she told us that she lives just around the corner from the church and had spent the last 2 summers thinking about stopping in for the service, but the devil always gave her an excuse not to do it.  She is from a pentecostal background and has received much false teaching, but has been full of questions as she seeks the truth from God´s Word, and has readily accepted the verses that we have shared with her although contradictory to the teaching that she has received.

Sunday night after the service she prayed to accept Jesus Christ as her Savior!!!  A special blessing to me was to hear her say at the end of her prayer, ‘Now I know for sure that I am saved and that I will spend eternity with You'.  Please keep her in prayer as she returns to London this coming week, that she might find a great Bible-preaching church in which she can grow.  Also, pray for her husband, Juan José, who is unsaved and for her son José Ignacio who has been under the false teaching of the pentecostal church.

WHAT A GREAT GOD WE SERVE!!!

We are thankful to finally have a spot on the web for the church in Gijón, where we have been working.  It has been something we have wanted to do for a while, and decided to quit putting it off after we had 2 new visitors a few weeks ago that had been searching the internet trying to find a good baptist church in Gijón.

I will hopefully get a picture gallery on there soon, so you can check back later for more pictures of the work and people.  A very special thank you to Pilar as she did much of the work so that we could get this website up and, Lord willing, used as a tool to reach others in Spain and especially Gijón.

ON TO GRANADA

We praise God for His wisdom, direction, and faithfulness!  We are excited about this next step and look forward to getting to Granada in July.  Granada is a city of 238.000 which doubles to 472.000 counting its metropolitan area.  The surrounding cities such as Armilla, Huetor Vega, Churriana, Maracena are known as "dormitory cities" since their inhabitants travel to work in Granada on a daily basis.  Granada is also home to one of the largest universities in Spain with 60.000 students in the Granada campus alone.

From what we have been able to find, there is 1 baptist church and 1 evangelical church located in this area that is home to 472.000. Obviously there is much, much to be done and we are excited about what God has planned for us there.  God's timing is always perfect and we praise God for the help that He is sending in Alberto and Ashley Puente (Lord willing, in the future you will hear much more from them on this website).
